Wednesday Night Series and Dinners
A relaxed "around the buoys" race for after work fun with friends. Racing is open to all yachts with a YRA of LIS PHRF Certificate, assuring a large fleet (35-45 boats) and close competition among spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions. Enjoy dinner and camaraderie afterward on CPYC's beautiful deck overlooking the sound.
Registration is required. Please visit Yachtscoring.com to register.
Summer Series on Sundays
Spinnaker, double-handed spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions compete on courses using both CPYC race marks and government buoys. Rules are set to enable easy, short-handed sailing on courses with longer legs for non-spinnaker boats and double-handed spinnaker boats and windward-leeward courses for fully-crewed spinnaker boats. One or more races depending on conditions, subject to the determination of the PRO.
Navigator Series
A five-race series including 2 destination races with optional overnight stays in June and July, and 3 distance races in September finishing at CPYC. Daily prizes and season trophies will be awarded for the Navigator Series.
Aunt Kate and Uncle Dan Cup
One Race per day around the buoys on each of three summer holidays followed by club-wide picnics on each day: the Vice Commodore's Cup (Memorial Day), the Commodore's Cup (Independence Day) and the Rear Commodore's Cup (Labor Day). The winners of the Aunt Kate (Spinnaker) and Uncle Dan (Non-Spinnaker) Divisions are required to regale the fleet with a poem about their exploits upon trophy presentation. No poem = No trophy!
Jackie Flournoy Cup
Named for Jackie Flournoy -- of illustrious accomplishment on the race course and pre-eminent service to CPYC -- her eponymous Cup is a race of boats with women only at the helm. Come honor Jackie and celebrate Fathers' Day on the race course, with refreshments and prizes following.
